Bir Billing not being a premiere destination in Himachal Pradesh there aren't many direct buses from Delhi however Baijnath a popular pilgrim center about 30 minutes from Bir Billing has couple of overnight direct buses from New Delhi. One can commute almost the entire journey to Bir Billing by train too thanks to the Kangra Valley Railway toy train.
There aren't many direct buses to Bir Billing from New Delhi. The nearest broad gauge railhead from Bir Billing is Pathankot which is about 140 kms away. Ahju just 3kms away from Bir Billing is the nearest narrow gauge railway. The Kangra valley railway runs a toy train from Pathankot which passes through Ahju which covers the distance in 7 hours.

Although quite slow Kangra Valley Railway runs a toy train every morning which will get you to Ahju just 3km from Bir. The train covers the 140 kms in about 7 hours.
Bir Billing by Road
Bir is about 12-14 hours from Delhi by bus. There are two overnight buses from Delhi, which leaves from ISBT, to Baijnath about 10 kms from Bir. Both the buses depart mid-evening from Delhi and arrives at Bir Billing by early morning. From Pathankot you may get on any bus plying to Manali, Shimla (Check the route), Palampur or Mandi however taxi is the fastest and most convenient way of getting to Bir from Pathankot. If you do have extra time the journey by the toy train is highly recommended.
Located about 10 kms from Bir Billing Baijnath is a pilgrim center famous for an ancient temple dedicated to Shiva which is believed to be one of twelve jyotirlingas. Built in the 13th century Baijnath temple deifies Shiva in the form of 'Vaidyanath'.
