The nearest rail head near Manali is Joginder Nagar which is connected to Pathankot (310 Kms) by narrow gauge rail. Kangra valley Railway runs daily passender trains between Pathankot and Joginder nagar however it takes approximately 7 hours to cover the distance of 150 kms. If you do not count the Joginder Nagar railway station the nearest rail head from Manali is Chandigarh and Pathankot which are both approximately 300 ms away from Manali. From Chandigarh Manali is about 5 hrs away by road.
